White elephants are considered sacred and rare animals in Thailand. The term derives from the regal elephants kept by Southeast Asian monarchs in Burma, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. To possess a white... elephant was regarded as a sign that the monarch reigned with justice and power, and that the kingdom was blessed with peace and prosperity. High standards were expected of anyone that owned a beast of such stature.
After 12 successful years in Philadelphia, the brother and sister team of Bo and Joy, decided to expand and open up another branch of White Elephant. In 2013, Bo and Joy found their opportunity in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The two siblings took over an existing business and renovated the entire interior of the restaurant. A complete changeover of the menu followed. Bo and Joy used their combined experience to not just take over, but to make over the restaurant completely.
Thank you for your business!
